Grief Counselling

With Damian Morgan BSc Hons in Counselling and Psychotherapy

Grief counselling will support you in working through the various stages and
range of emotions you may feel after the loss of a family member, a close
friend or a pet.

There are five recognised stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining,
depression and acceptance. These stages are not always linear and may be
experienced in any order and sometimes more than once. Physical and
emotional pain caused by grief can impair one’s ability to function. I work to
support you in dealing with this pain as you go through the various stages.

The short term goal of grief counselling is to support you to navigate the
aftermath of a loss and make practical decisions with regards to your new
circumstances. The long term goal is to support you as you experience the
different stages of grief and to help you to adapt to life without the loved one that you have lost.

Grief counselling can help you identify and express your emotions. If you
have lost someone who was an integral part of your life, grief counselling can
also help you rebuild your routine and your identity.
